read MoreAt the beginning of 2024 and moving towards the start of the Richmond People’s Budget, the Commission is beginning to focus on building connections with the broader community and sharing the vision behind the Richmond People’s Budget.
Over the Spring, we will be meeting around the city and beginning to do regular workshops.
For our first meeting, we sat down with Virginia Community Voice. They have been leading conversations on the Southside about equitable community engagement and development. They have set a standard for this in their Blueprint, efforts for building a thriving community, and their Equitable Development Scorecard. In 2024, the organization has set aside $10,000 to do a participatory budgeting program with residents that parallels the City’s process.
For this meeting the RVAPB Steering Commission began a conversation about the work of Virginia Community Voice, hearing about the concerns of residents on the Southside, and how to be in support of each other. They then worked to finalize specific details this spring.
The agenda will center on the following:
- Welcome/Approval of Minutes – 5 min
- Conversation with VCV – 55 minutes
- Updates – 5 minPartnerships – 5 min
- 2024 Calendar – 10 min
