11/1/2023 RVAPB Commission Meeting

At the November meeting of the RVA PB Steering Commission, we are still getting into the swing of things after a long summer lay-off.

As we move toward a Jan 1 announcement date and Spring focused on outreach, we are doing some important planning to make all of this work a success for Richmond.

Updates focused on the following:

Drafting Governing Agreements – In our first year we just used the traditional by-laws provided by the City Attorney’s office. But, with new people joining these efforts and a need to codify how we work together, we are staring to pull together some specific agreements about how the commission works.

Design work is in full swing. We are working with Hanbury to design a 1-pager and the Rulebook. In parallel, we will be working with Underground Shorts to produce a short 3 minute video for RVAPB.

RVA PB City jobs are still in the works.

1 on 1 meetings with City Council members are happening to get them up to date on the rulebook.

The rest of the meeting was focused on two primary questions before the commission. That being the overall timeline for how the Richmond People’s Budget will move forward and ways to build partnerships with groups across the city to support the effort.

Lastly, we discussed an engagement plan that has been developed to set standards about how engagement will take place.
